Path-breaking performances
The urge to stay ahead of her times is Smt. Krishnakumari’s greatest strength. She constantly endeavors to add interest and novelty to her productions while retaining their original flavour and purity.
Navagraha Ula, a grand ballet based on the nine planets was a trend-setter, incorporating  computer-animated graphics for the first time in 1998. The ballet that had over 60 performers on stage, affirmed Smt. Krishnakumari’s status as a choreographer of a superior league
.

Encouraged by the response Navagraha Deivangal received, Smt. Krishnakumari proceeded with zeal to create and stage another multilingual, multimedia production – Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam.

A mega project in itself, Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam gave the audience the experience of actually going to Tirupati.
Krishnakumari’s mind-blowing choreography accompanied by Sri Kavee’s distinctive lyrics and Shri Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan's exuberant music left audiences transfixed.

This production made its debut at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Pittsburgh, USA. Sri Venakatadri Vaibhavam and another production, Muththamizh Muzhakkam were staged in 12 cities across the US and won great acclaim.

THE SCIENTIST

Behind the enthralling performances is Smt. Krishnakumari’s strong grasp of theory and research combined with the spontaneous practical application of the Science of Bharatnatyam. She participates in and conducts periodic Lecture-Demonstrations in Chennai addressing various aspects of Dance. She presented a paper at the Nritya Sammelan, an International Dance Conference held in Durban, South Africa in May 2000.  She also conducted workshops in various places across South Africa and in US.

THE SCHOLAR

Smt. Krishnakumari  possesses exceptional command over the Tamil Language and has sound knowledge of Tamil Literature. Her extempore speeches and spontaneous introductions to pieces being performed, add that unmistakable touch to her productions.

Her treatment of ‘Thiruvampavai’ – songs in praise of Lord Shiva –  won great admiration, for they are known to be highly philosophical and structured verses. Only a person with flawless understanding of and expertise in Tamil could have choreographed 30 of these songs with such aplomb. These were telecast on Jaya TV on all the 30 days of Margazhi ( tamizh month)  and were well received by viewers.
